Thursday, April 10 Take Action Day

Taking Action!

Near Beuth Atrium, 12:45pm - 4:30pm

US libraries are under attack. Books are being banned or challenged throughout the country. You can read the American Library Association statement on censorship here.

Additionally, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has been negatively impacted by the recent executive order by the president of the United States. IMLS is a federal agency that supports museums and libraries through grant opportunities to fund learning, stewardship and access, community engagement, and public service.

In support of and in solidarity with ALA and librarians across the nation, we want to raise awareness about these issues and give you an opportunity to lend your voice to the chorus of concerned people who believe in the freedom to read and access to information!

We encourage you to send a message to your representatives. You can fill out a postcard with a personalized message to your representative(s) in Congress or you can submit your message to your representatives via the ALA online portal.

We will have blank, postage paid postcards for you to send and a librarian will be on hand to answer questions about these issues, help find address information for your representatives, and/or help you navigate the ALA website to send a virtual message.

Friday, April 11 Archives Day

Represent! You are a part of Union history

Near the Beuth Atrium, time TBD

Learn how you and/or your student organization can contribute to the College archives. Make your presence on campus known for posterity. Schaffer is always looking for content from students that will help us document the stories of the people and their activities at Union College.
