What is Collection Development?
The goal of collection development at Schaffer Library is to build a balanced collection to meet the information needs of the students and, in the measure of the possible, faculty at Union College. Identification, selection and evaluation of items for the collections are all functions of this office.
What can Collection Development do for me?
The collection development librarian provides assistance in the following areas:
- Reviews suggestions for new materials in all formats: print, video, microform, audio and electronic
- Consultation with faculty on the resources needed to support new course development
- Receives offers of donations to the collection (gifts)
